April 2nd is World Autism Awareness Day
World Autism Awareness Day
Friday, April 2nd
World Autism Awareness Day seeks to draw attention to the incidence rate of autism as a global health crisis. Autism is now being diagnosed in one of every 91 children in the US. In 2007, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution to devote one day a year to drawing attention toward autism as a global health crisis. As a result, World Autism Awareness Day is observed annually on April 2nd.
One way to show support and bring awareness is to wear blue on Friday, April 2nd. Also, visit World Autism Awareness Day online to learn more.
Early intervention is key. As a mom of two boys with autism, I hope you will join me in wearing blue to show your support of getting the word out about autism.
